Trash Disposal

Cape May Point has trash collections on Mondays throughout the year.   Recyclables are collected every other Monday September to May and every Monday during June-August.  The Borough furnishes property owners with red plastic containers for recyclables. Refuse that is not recyclable must be put out in bins acquired by the property owner.

Yard Waste

Leaves and compostable yard and garden materials is collected on Tuesdays after recyclable pick up and should be placed in brown paper bags purchased for that purpose.  Sticks and branches are collected on Wednesdays after recyclable pick up and must be less than 4 foot in length and in bundles tied with twine and be no heavier than 40lbs. For details contact Public Works 609 884-1454.

Household Trash

Trash and Recyclable containers may be placed at the roadside after 3PM on Sunday before trash day and should be collected and stored out of sight by 6PM on Monday after trash pick up. Street side corrals or storage of trash containers is prohibited by ordinance.

Bin Wranglers

You can have someone else put the trash out and put away the empty containers. They charge various amounts, but $7 to $10 a week is reportedly typical:

  • Good Neighbor Management: 609 972-1829
  • Curbside Can Service: 609 741-5114
  • Professional Property Services: 609 770-8375
  • Frank Eckel: 609 972-9169

Dumpster

Public Works has made a dumpster accessible to residents on Saturdays 9 to 11 and Sunday 10-12 at the pumping station (Water Tank) on Sunset west of Cape. This will be a convenience for those who won't be home to wrangle trash bins on collection day. The dumpster is normally behind locked gates to prevent its use for hazardous waste, appliances and other unsuitable things. If you can't make it when the gate is unlocked, give Bill Gibson (609) 224-7015 a call to arrange a mutually convenient time.
