About CMPTA

=The Cape May Point Taxpayers' Association is a not-for-profit, charitable organization designated under IRS Section 501(c)(3).   Founded in 1936, the purpose of the Association, is:
  1. to promote the welfare of the Borough of Cape May Point;
  2. to promote a spirit of community pride and cooperation;
  3. to sponsor and support events and activities which contribute to the life of the community; and
  4. to carry out such other acts and to undertake such other activities as may be necessary, appropriate or desirable in furtherance of or in connection with the conduct, promotion or attainment of the foregoing purposes, provided that none of such activities shall be undertaken which would cause the Corporation to lose its status as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Code, or as an organization, contributions to which are deductible under Sections 170, 2055 and 2522 of the Code.
Over 800 property owners, residents and "Friends of the Point" are members of CMPTA.   CMPTA sponsored nine (9) public events in 2019.  These events, plus all the other programs and services provided by CMPTA are made possible by membership dues and tax-deductible donations.   CMPTA is entirely privately funded.

The business of the Association is conducted by a Board of Directors comprised of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and four Non-Resident and three Resident Directors.  Meetings are held three times each year at the Fire House and are open to all members.   For further information, please contact pointhelp@cmp-taxpayers.org

 The ANNUAL GARDEN AWARDS recognize homeowners who invest time, creativity and resources making their landscape a delight for themselves and passersby.  Started in 1980, the Garden Awards were re-imagined in 2020 into a virtual celebration.   See it HERE.

The weekly emailed BULLETIN for CMPTA members highlights upcoming events, important notices, government actions and photos and recollections of Point-life.  Members are invited to submit Life Events and other suggestions for publication in the BULLETIN.

The CMPTA NEWSLETTER is published in Winter, Spring and Fall. Regular features and guest columnists share information, perspectives and photos!

The CIRCLE PICNIC AND CONCERT is a Father’s Day weekend tradition. Lemonade, popcorn and amusements for kids help make the event fun for all.

DUNES maintenance has always been a priority for CMPTA, which sponsors the annual planting of critical vegetation.

TRIANGLE PARK is a jewel of the Point and a hotspot for migrating butterflies. CMPTA manages the Triangle Park plantings and maintenance in partnership with the Borough.

The BEDFELLOWS of Pavilion Circle are neighbors who take responsibility for specific garden beds around the Circle. CMPTA offers a small stipend to each BEDFELLOW.

The Making the Point Home Initiative began in 2018 as an ongoing program to support Point residents and potential residents.   A Community Forum on this issue was followed by a Membership Survey which provided CMPTA with much needed insight into the needs and preferences of residents and other property-owners.   As a result of the Survey, CMPTA added the Recreation/Learning/Social Events page to its website, sponsored a Community Workshop on Container Gardening and a Winter Workshop and added the Walk the Point weekly walk.
