
Heritage Awards Categories
The Heritage Awards honor three categories of participation by individuals and groups as follows:
- Founders Circle Awards celebrate dedication to preserving the historical integrity of a structure in CMP erected prior to 1900, while sensitively adapting the structure and/or grounds to meet contemporary needs.
- Stewards Circle Awards celebrate stewardship in maintaining the character and vitality of a structure more than twenty-five years old.
- Community Circle Awards celebrate initiatives that promote the environmental and aesthetic qualities of land, water, air, wildlife and/or plant life resources in Cape May Point.

The Cape May Point Heritage Awards reflect the Blue of water that surrounds and sustains us and the Gold that is our precious resource of heritage and community. Together, we celebrate the diversity of architecture and preservation initiatives in Cape May Point, connecting the centuries. Old and new. Antique and contemporary. All here. All Cape May Point.
How to Nominate
Nominations and Eligibility
Any property within the borough of Cape May Point is eligible, public or private, subject to age-of-property requirements of applicable nomination category.
Anyone may submit nominations (regardless of whether or not they own or rent property at CMP). Property owners may self-nominate. Nominations must be made in writing using the Nomination Form. Additional materials in support of the nomination are welcomed. Multiple nominations in any category are accepted.
CMPTA Officers and Directors and Borough Commissioners are prohibited from receiving any award under this program during the tenure of their position. The CMPTA Board of Directors will make the Award decisions.
Recognition
Each Honoree will receive a plaque and certificate. The Honorees will be featured in the CMPTA Bulletin, Newsletter and website.
Nomination Forms
Each nomination should be limited to a single property or community initiative. While use of the specific nomination forms provided is not required, any nomination should include all of the information indicated by the forms as follows:
FOUNDERS CIRCLE: For Structures erected prior to 1900
STEWARDS CIRCLE: For structures more than twenty-five years old
COMMUNITY CIRCLE: For land, water, air, wildlife and/or plant life resources.
